We've heard from dozens of teachers who use our sets as part of their language lessons. Here are the most effective classroom strategies they've shared with us.
Start with a warm-up round
Before handing out the learnsheets, show the vocabulary set on a projector or whiteboard and go through the words together as a class. Say each word out loud, have students repeat it, and ask if anyone knows the word in another language. This primes the brain for what's coming and activates prior knowledge.
Use Exercise 2 (Match with Colors) as a group activity
Exercise 2 works especially well as a paired activity. Have students work in twos, taking turns reading a word aloud while their partner draws the colored line. The verbal repetition reinforces pronunciation and the social element keeps engagement high.
Turn Exercise 5 (Unscramble) into a race
Write a scrambled word on the board and see who can unscramble it first. This works for the whole class before distributing individual sheets, and creates energy around the vocabulary before students sit down to work independently.
Use the answer key as a self-check tool
Rather than collecting learnsheets to mark, hand out the answer key at the end and let students check their own work. This immediate feedback loop is more effective for retention than delayed marking, and it saves you time.
One set per week
Many teachers find that one thematic set per week works well: Monday to introduce the vocabulary, Wednesday for the middle exercises, Friday for the final ones and the answer key. This spreads the repetition across the week without overwhelming students.
